Wabash MS faced off against the Maconaquah Braves in their first contest on a turf field. The faster play suited the Apaches, who outscored Maconaquah 5-2. Solomon France led the scoring with all 3 of his goals for the night coming from Jacob France assists. Kolton Wilson, Wabash’s offensive midfielder, saved the Apaches from a potential Maconaquah score off a free kick, only to run the length of the field to score his own lone goal less than 2 minutes later. Wabash showed its ability to make dangerous passing combinations throughout the game, eventually leading to the 5th and final goal of the contest from Rylee Yoakum. Key distribution efforts from the middle of the field came from Troy Guenin-Hodson, as well as Jacob Fuchs and Eli Callahan, who also represent Wabash MS Track. Despite Maconaquah’s 2 goals coming in the 2nd half, Wabash’s Hannah Layne capped off the night with 5 saves. The Apaches’ defensive line, headed up by Brodie Craft, Devin Coffman, Kiana Jones and Seth Blossom, assisted Layne in a strong defensive effort, making a clear path to the goal difficult for Maconaquah. Wabash, 1-1 on the season, will travel again on 4/16 to Peru MS.
