The Lady Apaches ran season record breaking times on the first cold meet of the season on October 12th at the Marion IHSAA Sectional. Although the Lady Apaches were unable to advance as a team, the top three finishers for the team were close to advancing as individuals taking the 11th, 12th, and 13th spots against athletes whose teams did not qualify.
The top trio followed each other, bouncing between places and eventually settling with 33rd, 34th, and 35th place over all. Coming in first for the team was senior, Angel Wehrly, running a season best time of 23:56. Close behind was senior Camille Kugler with a personal best time of 24:04. Next for the team was Sierra Hall, a Junior, running a season best time of 24:05. Grace La Mar, a freshman, followed in with a personal best time of 26:46 and finishing 52nd place finishing off the Wabash girl’s team. The ladies competed with 60 athletes total in their race.
Bracing the cold, the Lady Apaches finished their season strong with season and personal best times. The Ladies left with an optimistic view of seasons to come along with a a new mindset for the coming season goals.
