Apaches Falls To Manchester On Walk-Off.
Apaches fell to Manchester 5-4 on Tuesday on the final play of the game. The game was tied at four with Manchester batting in the bottom of the ninth when Mackenzie Day doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.
Manchester got things moving in the second inning. Lydia Greer drove in one when she singled.
Apaches scored three runs in the third inning. The offensive firepower by Apaches was led by Kelsie Olinger, Hannah Halverson, and Alivia Short, who all drove in runs.
Emma Evans led things off in the pitcher’s circle for Manchester. She surrendered three runs on eight hits over five innings, striking out one and walking zero.
Whitney Working was on the rubber for Apaches. She surrendered five runs on 14 hits over eight and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking one.
Apaches racked up ten hits on the day. Katie Newman and Short each racked up multiple hits for Apaches. Newman led Apaches with three hits in four at bats.
Manchester had 14 hits in the game. Torina Runkel, Day, and Evans all managed multiple hits for Manchester. Runkel went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Manchester in hits.
